Every Leader Has a Story. Most Never Tell It.
Every leader has a library of stories — moments of challenge, growth, failure, and conviction. But too often those stories stay on the shelf. Inside this issue: a Georgia Tech keynote, why most startups fail, and our one-year Table.
Leadership becomes real when the story shows up Had the honor of being the keynote speaker for the Georgia Tech Culture Champion Academy kickoff — and wow, what a room. This isn't just another leadership program: every person there was nominated and selected because they're already shaping culture at Georgia Tech. We opened with a conversation about responsibility in storytelling. Every leader has a library of stories — moments of challenge, growth, failure, and conviction. But too often those stories stay on the shelf. Stories build trust. Stories build credibility. Stories make leadership human. We also explored something many leaders overlook: presence — how nonverbal cues shape perception, and how leadership shows up before you even say a word. One idea we kept coming back to: if you're in a leadership seat, you have the responsibility to reframe — helping your team see possibility when things feel uncertain. In the news: why startups fail — and what repeat founders do differently There's a sharp piece in Entrepreneur about why over 90% of startups fail and what serial entrepreneurs do differently to beat the odds. The takeaway isn't that repeat founders are smarter or luckier — it's that they start recognizing patterns, learn to execute better, time the market, and build businesses that can actually scale. One part especially stood out: before the pitch deck, before the product, before the hires, every successful startup starts with a story. Investors buy into a story before they buy stock. Employees join a story before they join a company. Customers connect with stories that make them feel something. Why Most Startups Fail and How Serial Entrepreneurs Beat the Odds Storytellers in action Our February Storyteller Tables brought speakers and professionals together for a hands-on session exploring how AI can sharpen your stories and strengthen how you communicate. Guest speaker and founder Sree Pradhip shared practical ways AI tools can help refine ideas, clarify messaging, and build confidence before stepping into important conversations. Participants didn't just hear about the tools — they practiced with them in real time.
