Speak It Like You Lead It
\"I've never thought of my story as a leadership tool. Until today.\" Inside: a workshop for 100+ at Genuine Parts Company, the storytelling secret to startup growth, and a June table that started with stillness.
A powerful storytelling workshop at Genuine Parts Company Last month, I delivered my signature keynote, Your Story, Your Brand , to over 100 employees at Genuine Parts Company. The workshop sparked honest conversations, personal reflections, and powerful moments of connection. From the moment I saw my name on the lobby marquee, I knew this would be special. One attendee summed it up best: "I've never thought of my story as a leadership tool. Until today." The secret to startup growth? Storytelling that connects Great startup stories aren't just about the product — they're about purpose. An Entrepreneur article reminds us that facts alone don't inspire action. The best stories don't start with success; they begin with real challenges, center on meaningful transformation, and end with authentic, lasting change. Three tips: 1. Start with the moment that sparked your idea — what problem needed solving? 2. Show your customer's transformation, not just a hero moment. 3. Use real tension and resolution to create emotional connection. Storytellers in action: breathe and rise together Some speakers rehearse lines. Others reconnect to their breath, so their message lands with truth. At our June gathering at The LOLA, we didn't start with slides or scripts — we started with stillness. With the help of Intermission Atlanta, we tapped into breath, body, and energy, because grounded voices carry farther. We moved, we paused, we breathed — not to perform better, but to speak more honestly. Clarity doesn't come from over-preparing; it comes from within. Doing good together: conscious capitalism in action I proudly serve on the nonprofit executive board of Conscious Capitalism Atlanta, where business meets impact. At the recent quarterly meeting, the board reflected on mission, exchanged bold ideas, and planned for deeper community value.
